DHL Stafet!
I haven't written for awhile but am still running :-) I've just been busy with my new job and running coach studies!
On Thursday the Running Copenhagen team ran the Dhl Stafet. This is a very big event which is run over 5 days in Copenhagen and is also run in different towns in Denmark before the Copenhagen week. You run in a team of 5 runners from your work. This is the biggest team relay event of its kind in the world!!
Anyway we were missing a runner so I was going to run first and then fourth or fifth. I got to where I thought the start was but then realised it was still another 5 minutes away and I had only 2 minutes to get there. After a little pushing past people (well there are around 26000 people there each day, and the zeros are correct!) I made it to my start position just as the gun was fired. I think I went with the wrong people though and should have started 30 seconds later....opps!
So there I am running 5k with a baton in my hand and trying to get past all the walkers while the faster runners are trying to get past me :-)
I was having a great run! At 4k we had to run on a green carpet thing on the grass and this made the going very spongy which in turn was making my ankles twist around.
At 5k I run up to where the next person in my team was waiting and passed the baton over while cheering them on.
I then went back to the Running Copenhagen tent and managed to talk one of the other guides, Flemming, into running twice so I didn't have to. I was a little worried about hurting my ankles when I got to the 4k mark again.
All of us from the team then cheered Flemming on very much as he made his way round the course twice :-)
And so we all ate and drunk wine and champagne untl it got too dark!
Our joint team time for the full 25k relay race was 1hour and 59 seconds which is a pretty great time I think!

Night Running Tour!
Yesterday evening I guided another night running tour around Copenhagen for Running Copenhagen.
As it was the day of the Copenhagen Pride Parade there were MANY people in the city. This made the running a little different but also with a bit of a party atmosphere!
I had to change the tour a little as we couldn't run up all of Strøget (the walking street) because of all the people so we ran up to The Round Tower and then towards the town hall square from there.
It was another great tour with some lovely people and I look forward to guiding one again very soon :-)

Photo Shoots and Easy 12k!
Today has been a VERY interesting day :-)
At 9am this morning I met up with Lena from running copenhagen outside Christiania (this is a very special place, read more about it here http://www.christiania.org/index.php)
Anyway standing with Lena is a photographer. I am a running photo model for the morning! We waited for another runner to join us and went down to some of the different areas in Christiania to have photos taken.
It was a lot of fun as we had to run in different ways and directions. (I got told off for looking at the camera)
At the end I had some portrait photos taken for the Running Copenhagen website. In case you are new to the blog I am a freelance sightseeing running guide with them.
After this I decided I may as well run my 12k for today so I went for a beautiful run a lake in Christianshavn and then over the bridge into Copenhagen and all the way along the water towards the Fisketorvet shopping centre. Then it was back over the water, into the Amagerfælled and up to DR Byen metro station where I had left my bike early this morning.
It was a great run! My serious Valencia Marathon running has started!!
As soon as I get the photos from the photo shoot I'll put them on here :-)

6.5k and Night Running Tours
On Tuesday evening at 9pm me and Lena from Running Copenhagen ran a night tour around Copenhagen :-)
It was just to test the route and work out what sights should be included in the tour. (I also used it as a little training).
We learnt a few things about what would work and what wouldn't!
For example, 9pm is too early so we would probably start from 9.30pm. Also a couple of bits of the route weren't working so well so this has been changed.
I'm planning to run the new route on Sunday (again as part of my training) and see how it goes this time.
With a bit of luck the Copenhagen Night Runs from Running Copenhagen will be up and 'running' by June!
I'll keep you updated :-)

Sight Running Tour with Running Copenhagen
.jpg)
Last Friday I was invited on a running tour of Copenhagen with Lena from http://www.running-copenhagen.dk/
This is because I am going to become a running sight seeing guide for Running Copenhagen!
I met Lena at the town hall square at 10am and started on a very interesting and talkative running tour :-)
We ran up to Christiansborg which is the parliament building. Then we ran down by Nyhavn and along the water front, past the queens palaces and all the way up to the little mermaid.
Then through one park, over a road and into Kongens Have (the kings gardens). This is a large public park which is a great place for a picnic on a warm day :-) This park is also where Rosenborg Slot (castle) is situated.
The last part of the run takes us by The Round Tower which you can go to the top of and get a great view of Copenhagen. Then we ran past the university and down to Gammel Torv/Nytorv (the old and new squares). And finally past the court house and back to the town hall square.
All the while we are running Lena is telling me about the history of the city, some good places to eat and drink, and also some funny and interesting little stories :-)
We stop at the main sites for photos and to hear more about them.
The tour lasts around one and a half hours, is about 8 kilometres and only costs 150kr.
I enjoyed this sight seeing experience very much and highly recommend it if you visit Copenhagen.
You never know, maybe I will be your guide :-)
