One Week Until Madrid Marathon!

This time in a week it will all be over....again!

And I have a sore throat and a cold :-( I'm taking loads of vitamin C and drinking Beechams. So glad I got some sent over from England.

I'm not feeling to bad, just a little rundown and tired. I'll just take it easy and sleep loads. I'm sure once I land in Madrid and feel the warmer weather I will feel much better...

I'm looking very much forward to my time in Madrid :-)
I won't have my family there so have no 'supporters' but I will have a break from the cold in Denmark, time to myself, and get to meet my new friend Ciry in person :-)

Another Nice Run!

I have had another great run today around my favourite place 'Amagerstrand' (The Beach)!

As it's a 5k run there, then a 6k up and back, then another 5k home, I decided to bike some of it. So I biked there, ran the 6k, and then biked back.

The weather was sunny but windy as usual and there were many people enjoying the spring day.

I have a run of around 11k planned with my friend on Monday and then will do my last hill training on Wednesday.

On Thursday I'm off to Madrid all by myself!

Madrid Marathon Training News and Weather!

I have been very busy with my running over the last week :-)

After my very long run I ran two 5k's. After that I've been training hills very much to prepare better for the Hills of Madrid! Then I've run a 10k on Saturday, had a very hard hill training session on Monday, have another 10k run on Thursday, and around an 18k or so run planned for Saturday or Sunday.

After that more hill training and a couple of 7k-10k's before I leave for Madrid on Thursday 19th April :-)

As you can imagine I'm keeping a very close eye on the weather forecast......

Well it's looking ok. Not cloudy as I would have liked but 18 degrees isn't too bad. I'm sure that temperature will rise though in the days leading up to the marathon....

A Little Hill Training in Oslo!

I have just returned home from a minicruise to Oslo with the ship Pearl Seaways :-)

It sails during the night to Oslo. Then you get the day there, and then sail back in the night again to Copenhagen.

It's actually a lot of fun and my boys really enjoyed themselves.

Anyway in Oslo there is a park called Vigelandsparken. It's a cool sculpture park with lots of steps! So I figured it would be a good idea to run up them a little to get in some hill training. My older son joined me and was just as quick at running up as I was!

My Danish Running Magazine Article!

Last month I was contacted about having my blog appear in a danish running magazine called LøbeMagasinet. I know the magazine well as I buy it almost every month. It is very well written and professional.
Oviously I jumped at the chance :-)

A couple of my blogger friends have also been mentioned!

The article is, of course, in danish so I have translated a little of it below.

Why did you start a blog?
When I first started my blog it was to keep track of my own training and the up and downs of my journey to Copenhagen Marathon. I never intended to run any more marathons after Copenhagen so, in the beginning, it was just a diary. Then I caught the marathon bug!

What do you personally get out of your blog?
I enjoy helping beginner runners to achieve their own running goals just as I did and hopefully to catch the ‘running bug’ on their way there.

What is the best thing about having a blog?
I meet some great people who share the same interests as me. Also I like looking back to see how my own running has improved since I began.

Do you have a favourite running blog?
My running ‘mentor’ has a great blog called 50 is the New 30. I started reading his blog and made comments about his posts which led to us meeting up when he came over to run Copenhagen Marathon. We are meeting again in Berlin. I have learnt a lot from Paul and his blog.
Also I am inspired by 'Løbeklubben på Facebook' (running club on facebook) and by the blog  Conquering 26.2

A Fantastic 28k Run!!

As predicted I am feeling so good right now!!

I have had a fantastic run this morning :-)
I ran through a nature area, on a bridge over the sea, and then by a lake!
I then met my friend Felicity and ran 7k with her.

The weather was great when I woke up, sunshine and almost no wind but, of course, that changed. It was actually quite cloudy, cold, and with a nasty headwind when I was running :-(

Oh well, what doesn't kill me makes me stronger right??

I was a little tired at the end but had run 28.3k with a pace of 6:10 which I am very happy with :-)

I had a cup of coffee and a bowl of Cheerios one hour before the run. Just before I went out of the door I had a High5 energy gel and then had one every 5k. This worked very well.

Woohoo only 3 weeks until Madrid Marathon!!
